  • Robert A. Hamwee*
    Chief Executive Officer
    Robert A. Hamwee*Chief Executive Officer

    Robert A. Hamwee has served as New Mountain Finance Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer since July 2010. Mr. Hamwee also serves on the board of directors of New Mountain Finance Corporation. Mr. Hamwee has served as a Managing Director of New Mountain Capital since 2008. Prior to joining New Mountain Capital, Mr. Hamwee served as President of GSC Group, a leading institutional investment manager of alternative assets, where he had day-to-day responsibility for managing GSC’s control distressed debt funds from 1999 to 2008. Prior to 1999, Mr. Hamwee held various positions at Greenwich Street Capital Partners, the predecessor to GSC Group, and with The Blackstone Group. Mr. Hamwee has chaired numerous Creditor Committees and Bank Steering Groups, and was formerly a director of a number of public and private companies, including Envirosource, Purina Mills, and Viasystems. Mr. Hamwee received his B.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Michigan.

    John R. Kline*President & Chief Operating Officer

    John R. Kline has served as New Mountain Finance Corporation’s President since July 2016 and Chief Operating Officer since January 2013. Mr. Kline also serves as a Managing Director of New Mountain Capital. Prior to joining New Mountain, he worked at GSC Group from 2001 to 2008 as an investment analyst and trader for GSC’s control distressed and corporate credit funds. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Kline was with Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he worked in the Credit Risk Management and Advisory Group. Mr. Kline graduated from Dartmouth College, with an A.B. degree in History.

    James W. Stone III

    James W. Stone IIIManaging Director

    James W. Stone III, Managing Director, joined New Mountain Capital in 2011. Prior to joining New Mountain, he worked for The Blackstone Group (“Blackstone”) as a Managing Director of GSO Capital Partners, the firm’s credit business. At Blackstone, Mr. Stone was responsible for originating, evaluating, executing and monitoring various senior secured and mezzanine debt investments across a variety of industries. Before joining Blackstone in 2002, Mr. Stone worked as a Vice President in Lehman’s Communications and Media Group and as a Vice President in UBS Warburg’s Leveraged Finance Department. Prior to that, Mr. Stone worked at Nomura Securities International, Inc. with the team who later founded Blackstone’s corporate debt investment unit. Mr. Stone graduated Phi Beta Kappa and received a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from The University of the South. He later received an M.B.A. with concentrations in finance and accounting from The University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.

    Laura C. Holson, Director, joined New Mountain in 2009. She previously worked in the Healthcare group at Morgan Stanley in New York. She received her B.S., magna cum laude, in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 2007. Ms. Holson is primarily dedicated to NMFC.

    Joy Xu, Vice President, joined New Mountain in 2012. She previously worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York. She graduated magna cum laude in 2010 from the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania; she received her B.S. in Economics with concentrations in Finance and Management from The Wharton School and her B.A.S. in Computer Science from the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences.

    Holly Lau, Credit Associate, joined New Mountain in 2014. She previously worked at Apollo Investment Corporation, an externally managed business development company of Apollo Global Management. Prior to joining Apollo in 2013, she was a Senior Associate in the Financial Services Audit group at KPMG LLP. She received her B.S. in Applied Economics & Management with a concentration in accounting from Cornell University, graduating magna cum laude in 2011. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.

    Nicholas J. BittingAssistant Controller

    Nicholas J. Bitting, Assistant Controller, joined New Mountain in 2013. He previously worked at Vastardis Capital Services, a fund administrator, as a Financial Reporting Associate. Prior to Vastardis, Mr. Bitting was an auditor in the Financial Services Group at Deloitte & Touche.

    He received his B.S. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Rhode Island in 2008 and his M.B.A. from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business in 2015. He is a licensed CPA in the State of New Jersey.

    Alexandra Brierley, Financial Analyst, joined New Mountain in 2016. She previously worked in the Economic & Valuation Services group at KPMG LLP. She received her B.S. in Economics from Duke University in 2013.

    Linda Chiu
    Director, Tax
    Linda ChiuDirector, Tax

    Linda Chiu, Director of Tax, joined New Mountain in 2010. She was previously the tax director at GSC where she was responsible for handling all tax matters related to the firm and the firm’s various distressed debt, CDO, BDC, REIT, private equity, and mezzanine debt investment funds. Prior to joining GSC, she was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young LLP (“E&Y”) where she managed tax issues for a variety of clients in the financial services industry including private equity and asset management firms and international banks. Prior to joining E&Y, Ms. Chiu was a Senior Manager in Arthur Andersen LLP’s financial services practice.

    She received her B.S. degree in Accounting and Information Systems from New York University’s Undergraduate Stern School of Business in 1991 and her M.B.A. in Finance and Management Consulting from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business in 1997. She is a New York State CPA.

    Jessica Hanna, Assistant Controller, joined New Mountain in 2013. She previously worked at Baron Capital Group, Inc., a registered investment advisor, as Assistant Controller of Corporate Accounting. Prior to Baron, she was an Audit Senior at EisnerAmper, LLP in the Financial Services practice.

    She is a New York State CPA and received her B.S. in Accounting, cum laude, from the University of Buffalo in 2007.

    Karrie J. Jerry has served as Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary of New Mountain Finance Corporation since June 2015. Ms. Jerry joined New Mountain Finance Corporation as a Compliance Officer and has been in various roles since 2011. Before joining New Mountain Finance Corporation, Ms. Jerry served as a Compliance Associate and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Apollo Investment Corporation (“Apollo”), a business development company, from 2005 until 2011. During her time at Apollo, Ms. Jerry also served in compliance and corporate governance oversight roles of Apollo’s other publicly listed funds, which included a real estate investment trust and another closed-end fund. Ms. Jerry received a B.S. in Paralegal Studies from Boston University.

    Shiraz Y. Kajee has served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of New Mountain Finance Corporation since December 2015. Prior to joining New Mountain Finance Corporation, Mr. Kajee was the Head of U.S. Finance at Man Investments from 2012 to 2015, where he was responsible for the accounting, tax and treasury functions for the U.S. operations of Man Group plc, a United Kingdom based alternative asset manager. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Kajee was a Vice President of Private Wealth Finance at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and from 2006 to 2010 was a Senior Vice President of Corporate Loans Finance at Citigroup Inc. Mr. Kajee began his career at Ernst & Young LLP within their Financial Services Office Assurance practice. Mr. Kajee received both his Master of Science in Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Baruch College – City University of New York. He is a New York State Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

    James T. Lavallee, Director, joined New Mountain in 2008. He previously worked at Stone Harbor Investment Partners, LP within the trade support area of their Operations group. Prior to that, he worked in the Institutional Operations area of Citigroup Asset Management.

    He received his B.S., cum laude, in Finance and Computer Information Systems from Quinnipiac University in 2002 and his M.B.A. in Finance from Fairfield University in 2007.

    John Maris, Operations Analyst, joined New Mountain in 2015. He previously worked at JPMorgan Chase within Alternative Investment Services as a Bank Loans Associate. He received his B.S. in Management and Finance from Pace University in 2012.

    Phil MentesanaDirector, Technology

    Phil Mentesana, Director of Technology, joined New Mountain in 2017. Prior to joining New Mountain, Mr. Mentesana was the Chief Technology Officer for Delphi Capital Management, Inc where he led the firm’s information technology and cyber security efforts for a diverse group of financial services companies including a private equity firm, hedge fund, fund of funds and a public insurance holding company. Prior to Delphi, Phil was a partner and Director of Information Technology at Equinox Capital Management where he structured the technology direction, security, business continuity and back office operations for an institutional investment advisor. Mr. Mentesana holds a B.S. from Brooklyn College and has over 20 years of experience in a diverse range of technologies.

    Lindsey Wittmann, Accounting Analyst, joined New Mountain in 2017. Prior to joining New Mountain, Ms. Wittmann worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as an Associate in their Controllers group. She began her career at KPMG as a Senior Associate in the Financial Services practice. Ms. Wittmann is a New York State Certified Public Accountant and received her B.S. in Accounting from Bucknell University in 2012. She is primarily dedicated to New Mountain’s credit business.

  • Steven B. Klinsky*

    Steven B. Klinsky has served as Chairman of the board of directors of New Mountain Finance Corporation since July 2010. Mr. Klinsky established New Mountain Capital in 1999. Prior to founding New Mountain Capital, Mr. Klinsky was co-founder of the Leverage Buyout Group of Goldman Sachs & Co. (“Goldman”) (1981-1984), where he helped execute over $3 billion of pioneering transactions for Goldman and its clients. He then joined Forstmann Little and Co. (“Forstmann Little”) as an Associate Partner (1984-1986) and a General Partner (1986-1999), helping to oversee seven private equity and debt partnerships totaling over $10 billion in capital. Mr. Klinsky was the most senior partner of Forstmann Little outside of the Forstmann family for a majority of the 1990s. Mr. Klinsky received his B.A. in Economics and Political Philosophy, with high honors, from the University of Michigan in 1976. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School (class of 1979) and his J.D., with honors, from Harvard Law School (class of 1981). He is or has been chairman or a director of numerous corporations and philanthropies.

    Adam Weinstein initially served as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of New Mountain Finance Corporation from July 2010 until January 2013 when he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of New Mountain Finance Corporation where he now serves in an oversight role of the finance and administrative areas. Mr. Weinstein joined the board of directors of New Mountain Finance Corporation in August 2012. Mr. Weinstein serves as a Managing Director of New Mountain Capital and as its Chief Financial Officer and has been in various roles since joining in 2005. Prior to joining New Mountain Capital in 2005, Mr. Weinstein was a Manager at Deloitte & Touche, LLP and worked in that firm’s merger and acquisition and private equity investor services areas. Mr. Weinstein sits on a number of boards of directors for professional and non-profit organizations. Mr. Weinstein received his B.S. from Binghamton University, is a member of the AICPA and is a New York State Certified Public Accountant.

    Mathew J. Lori, Managing Director, joined New Mountain in 2007. Prior to New Mountain, he was a Managing Director of CCMP Capital Advisors and its predecessor firm, JP Morgan Partners, where he was responsible for investing on behalf of global funds with more than $10 billion under management. Mr. Lori has executed more than $15 billion of transactions across a select group of sectors including business services, information services, marketing services, communications, consumer products, specialty distribution, and industrial. He is the lead director of IRI Worldwide, ABB Optical Group, Alexander Mann Solutions, Diversified Foodservice Supply and Strategic Partners, Inc. He was formerly on the board of SNL Financial.

    Mr. Lori received his B.S. from the University of Windsor and his M.B.A. from the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
